Expect to discover a hidden side of Amsterdam through thoughtful storytelling and an open conversation – some ideas are fun, some heart-warming, quirky, or controversial – stories you’ll want to bring home and tell others about.

What to bring?

  • Wear comfortable shoes.

  • Bring an umbrella and a raincoat if rain is forecast—or if you're unsure. Amsterdam is known for its changeable weather, and forecasts are not always accurate. Emergency rain capes are available at the start of the tour for €5 (cash only).

  • If it's a warm day, bring drinking water and consider sunscreen, a hat, or other sun protection.

Will the tour be canceled when it rains?

We operate our tours rain or shine, so we do not cancel tours if it rains.

If you are caught out by the weather, emergency rain capes are available at the start of the tour for €5 (cash only).

For safety reasons, tours will be cancelled if the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) issues a Code Red weather warning. In that case, all affected bookings will be fully refunded.

Acccessibility & CONTACT for private tours

Anker zu Accessibility & Contact

We would love to welcome as many people as possible on our tours. To help you decide whether a group walking tour is the right fit, please note the following considerations. If any of these apply to you, feel free to contact us about arranging a private tour that may better suit your needs.

  • Language
Our public tours are conducted in English. We can currently offer private tours in German (Deutsch) on request. Please contact us to discuss availability.

  • Hearing
Amsterdam regulations do not permit tour guides to use sound amplification devices in public spaces. If you have a hearing impairment, please get in touch to discuss whether a private tour can be adapted to better meet your needs.

  • Walking and mobility
Our tours involve walking at a moderate pace through Amsterdam's historic city centre. Due to cobbled streets, narrow pathways, busy tourist areas, and the overall route design, the standard group tour may not be suitable for guests with mobility or walking impairments. We would be happy to discuss private tour options that can be adapted where possible.
